Nokia buys Symbian
Finnish phone giant in a press release reported that the company buys the remainder of the Nokia company Symbian, because before that Nokia already owned part of the company’s shares.
Symbian platform Nokia uses for many many years, and S60 - the world’s most popular platform for smartphones, is designed just for Symbian. But interesting is just beginning: instead of putting all the intellectual development of Symbian in their personal ends, Nokia sends intellectual property to the non-profit fund Symbian Foundation. Members of the fund are such companies as Motorola, SonyEricsson, NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone, LG, Samsung. This purchase - a preventive move against Google Open Handset Alliance - another attempt standartarizirovat interface smartphones. The amount of the transaction amounts to 264 million euros.
